This website represents a labor of love and has required considerable effort and expense to develop. In addition to this website, we are seeking public pressure to set aside protected areas on San Salvador, not only to ensure the future of its living jewels but also to preserve the aesthetically pleasing landscape and to enhance the environment-friendly reputation of the island. We are convinced that San Salvador's residents take considerable pride in their unique heritage. Ultimately, it will be up to them to preserve their environments, but they will need considerable help from both private and government sectors.

We are engaged in the slow process of acquiring non-profit status for our foundation so that contributions can be tax-deductible for those who wish to have the option. At the moment, donations can be made directly to the Gerace Research Center or, for tax-exempt purposes, through Loma Linda University. Checks should be written and made payable to one of these institutions (not to the foundation itself) and sent with an accompanying letter (specifying that the gift be directed to the San Salvador Living Jewels Foundation) to:
